Rajasthan rewards almost every season, but the experience changes a lot from month to month. Here is how to choose.
October to March: the comfortable months
Days are warm to mild and evenings can be cool, especially in the desert around Jaisalmer and Bikaner. This is the busiest season for good reason, so book hotels and guides early, particularly around major festivals.
April to June: very hot
Temperatures climb steeply. If you travel in these months, plan sightseeing for early morning and late afternoon, and choose hotels with a pool and reliable air conditioning.
July to September: the monsoon
Rain turns the landscape green and the lakes of Udaipur fill up. Crowds are thinner and prices are often lower, although some outdoor plans can change at short notice.
